Extend the life and efficiency of your equipment. Have your system maintained regularly. Equipment that is well cared for functions best, has a longer life, and needs fewer repairs. Change the filters in your system regularly. Active households with children, pets, etc. may need to do this more frequently.
Use your heating and air system effectively. Use a programmable thermostat to adjust temperature while you are away from home. Keep landscaping at least two feet away from outdoor equipment. Use window treatments and and keep doors & windows closed. Consider raising the temperature in your house a few degrees in the warm months and lowering it in the winter.
Upgrade to more efficient technologies. New technology is making it possible to design very efficient heating and air systems that also use more environmentally friendly refrigerant. Air filtration systems are available instead of traditional, throw-away filters.
